Many cultures,
one community

The Liberties Festival
Branding, Events, Exhibitions & Ideas

Overview

One of Ireland's oldest festivals, the Liberties' Festival grew from modest beginnings in 1970 to become a highlight of Dublin's festival season with a programme of family-friendly, sporting and community events plus an arts programme.

An initial request to create a new identity for the festival that would position it within the cultural landscape in Dublin became a long-term creative collaboration with the team. The Liberties Festival celebrates the culture, heritage and creativity of one of Dublin’s oldest neighbourhoods. As well as developing the brand and tone of voice we created a series of arts and cultural events that engaged the community and widened the focus of the festival.

One day in the Libs  – 2013

To celebrate International Worker’s Day, we invited people to send in a photo of something that caught their eye in the Liberties on 1st May. 1 Day in the Liberties is a celebration of life in the area and an exhibition of the images ran in Gallery Zozimus on Francis Street.

Taking Liberties Exhibition – 2012

Photographer Shane McCarthy spent many weeks taking shots of the people and places in the Liberties. The subsequent ‘Taking Liberties’ collection launched during the festival in Gallery Zozimus before moving to the Guinness Enterprise Centre. As we hung the images in Gallery Zozimus, many of the people passing started to spot their friends and neighbours in the photos and we had a lot of visitors eager to see themselves on the walls.
